Video Management Settings


 

For the Multi-Month Unlimited Plans, Cricket Core, and Cricket More, video typically streams at standard definition. All other data plans come with the Video Management feature, which allows you to stream video in higher definition when available.

We aim to render streaming video in standard-definition (max speed of 1.5 to 2 Mbps), though some video cannot be identified. Sometimes, other content that content providers bundle with streaming video may be impacted and slowed, including downloads. In certain situations, we may deliver video content faster or at higher definition. If your plan has the Video Management feature, to experience higher definition video when available, or if you have an issue, turn the feature off or back on any time.

The Video Management feature is available to every Cricket customer with plans that include data, except those with the Multi-Month Unlimited, Cricket More, and Cricket Core plans.

There's no additional cost to use the Video Management feature.

For most customers, Cricket will turn on Video Management for you when you activate service, which will limit streaming to SD to help save data. It's free, and customers have the option to turn it off for select plans. For more information visit cricketwireless.com/mobilebroadband.

To turn Video Management on or off in the myCricket App, log in, then tap the gear icon in the top right corner to view Account Settings. If you have an account with multiple lines, select a line. Under Line Settings & Video Management, tap Video Management. Then switch the toggle On or Off, depending on your preference.

The selection change will take effect in near real-time.

No. Video Management will not apply to content it can't identify as video. Streaming and video resolution can be affected by other factors as well. These factors include:
  • Resolution you usually watch in
  • App settings
  • Stream source
  • Network traffic, etc.

Video Management works on wireless devices that have the capability to stream video content, such as smartphones. Exceptions include devices that cannot stream video.

Video Management only applies to video streamed over the cellular network. Video streamed over Wi-Fi is not affected.
